Job summary

MCAP is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and manage storage and compute infrastructure. You will oversee servers, cloud services, backups and OS, while contributing to system design and DR planning.

The role requires 5–7 years of relevant experience, VMware vSphere expertise, and ITIL-driven incident and change management. A post-secondary degree in CS or engineering is required, with MCSE and cloud experience valued.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years relevant experience.
• VMware /Microsoft MCSE/ ITIL work experience.
• Extensive experience designing, deploying, and administering mission critical servers.
• Experience analyzing marketplace trends and determining applicability to MCAP's environment.
• Designing and deployment of automation technologies.
• Experience with design, implementation, and management of cloud services.
• Experience with large scale storage and backup solutions; specifically, Veeam Backup.
• Incident, Change and Problem Management procedures – ITIL aligned.
• Installation and administration of virtual computing platforms (VMware vSphere).
• Cloud pattern knowledge and private/public cloud management.

Responsibilities

• Design, deployment, management, and security of storage and compute infrastructure.
• Plan, manage, and monitor physical server and storage infrastructure; deploy and manage operating systems.
• Collaborate to define business requirements and systems goals; resolve issues.
• Oversee hardware, software upgrades and cloud services; perform ROI analyses for procurement decisions.
• Manage servers and cloud services (DB, mail, backup) and associated operating systems.
• Develop system design models, diagrams, and charts for programmers and development teams.
• Conduct server and security audits and recovery procedures per DR/BC strategies.
• Provide orientation and training to IT users on modified and new systems.
• Develop and test scripts and configurations to optimize operations.
