Job summary

GeologicAI, a Calgary-based startup, seeks a Platform Infrastructure engineer to own CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and platform modernization. You will profile performance, optimize data workflows, and refactor legacy components to scale across field deployments and edge environments.

You will collaborate across teams to improve reliability, introduce observability, and promote standards for scalable software delivery in a fast-growing, energy-focused company.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of professional software engineering experience in platform, infrastructure, or backend systems.
• Strong Python development skills with scale in a Python-centric codebase.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, failure modes, and multi-component profiling.
• Hands-on experience building or improving CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
• Experience with Docker and containerized development/deployment environments.
• Demonstrated ability to refactor complex, legacy codebases safely and incrementally.
• Experience with performance profiling to identify bottlenecks and optimize systems.
• Strong software testing fundamentals: unit, integration, and end-to-end testing at scale.
• Experience with observability tooling: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools.
• Linux-based development and operations as a daily practice.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own automated deployment pipelines from development through production including field deployments.
• Implement IaC and configuration management for reproducible environments.
• Drive environment parity across local, test, staging, and production to catch regressions early.
• Automate release processes to reduce manual steps and improve cadence.
• Maintain and improve deployment reliability across distributed and edge environments.
• Profile distributed processing systems to identify performance bottlenecks across compute, memory, and network.
• Develop optimizations for data pipelines to handle increasing volumes without degradation.
• Refactor legacy codebases to improve scalability and maintainability.
• Invest in observability: structured logging, tracing, and metrics to monitor systems.
