Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Platform Engineer to evolve, enhance, and lead the technological footprint of our Seismic Monitoring Services portfolio. Nanometrics provides a top-tier portfolio of tools and services supported by a continuously evolving cloud-based platform.

The DevOps Platform Engineer builds and maintains the software, tooling, and infrastructure used to automate release, new product/service rollout, deployment, and upgrade processes. Combines software development and operations practices to shorten the systems delivery life cycle and provide a continuous delivery platform.

The position requires knowledge of diverse tools and technologies, with the ability to learn and recommend new technologies. Proactive thinking, passion, and urgency towards customer experience are key attributes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 7+ years experience in software development.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with cloud providers like AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, and related observability platforms.
• Experience with database operations (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) in cloud and on-prem environments.

Job Duties

• Integrate applications/services with cloud platforms to improve efficiency for product development teams.
• Design platform solutions supporting cloud-native services and on-premise infrastructure.
• Collaborate with developers and operations to optimize build, test, configuration, and deployment processes.
• Contribute to CI/CD stacks to automate application deployment.
• Create automation for operational tasks.
• Improve platform agility, extensibility, and operational excellence.
• Manage observability stack including logs, metrics, tracing, and alerts.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices.

• Kubernetes, Docker, Helm for containerization and orchestration.
• Building CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, ArgoCD.
• Build tools like Maven or Gradle.
• Monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
• Developing self-service platforms and APIs.
• Designing scalable, resource-isolated shared environments.
• Applying DevOps practices for incident management and SLOs.
