About the Position

This is an entry-level full-time Utility position at a large flour milling plant in Port Colborne, Ontario. The successful candidate will be cross-trained in operational roles to meet operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Training will be provided; the candidate will meet expectations within a reasonable period.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Monitor, operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Perform material handling and light maintenance duties.
  • Follow safety rules, GMP, HACCP, and food safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation following GMP standards.
  • Attend safety and food safety training sessions.
  • Work in various environmental conditions, including hot, cold, or wet settings.
  • Be prepared for shift work, overtime, and weekends.
  • Demonstrate good communication, ability to follow instructions, and perform tasks safely and independently.
  • Work with machinery safely, including troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Possess basic computer skills, numeracy, and record-keeping accuracy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to work at heights, and to stand, sit, kneel, crawl, and bend.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs./22 kg.
  • Work in various environmental conditions.
  • Availability for shift work, overtime, and weekends.
  • Good communication skills, ability to follow directions, and safety-consciousness.
  • Competence in working with machinery and troubleshooting.
  • Basic computer skills and attention to record accuracy.

Education or Work Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a plant setting is advantageous.
