Overview:

Reporting to the Kingston/Belleville Plant Manager, this role manages the plant operations at Modular 4. This role is responsible to ensure top performance on safety, environmental, and production. The responsibilities also include the hiring, development, leadership, and management of all plant employees. The Superintendent will ensure alignment with all functional groups including: safety, environment, land, manufacturing and supply chain to drive a consistent process and standard approach.

General Responsibilities:

  • Safety Culture: Develop and instill a site level safety culture through consistent engagement with employees and contractors with an objective of “zero” harm; Lead daily huddles to demonstrate commitment to workplace safety; Ensure front line employee compliance to all applicable local and regional health & safety policies and initiatives.
  • Human Resources: Directly responsible for the individual development, motivation and training of all direct reports to maximize their performance; Responsible for the administration of disciplinary measures in a fair and consistent manner to address substandard performance of all direct reports; Lead the site hiring process.
  • Production Management: Determine manpower requirements and shift scheduling to meet production demands; Establish and manage weekly production and maintenance schedule; Manage and drive meeting daily production targets.
  • Financial Management: Development and adherence to annual maintenance budgets; Participate in monthly EBIT reviews to ensure its accuracy and to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Customer Focus: Coordinate with sales and dispatch personnel to ensure daily customer requirements are met; Management of stockpile inventories.
  • Land Management: Responsible for short-term planning and execution of activities in accordance with the Mining Plan; Ensures site level compliance to Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry requirements.
  • Environmental Management: Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the site Environmental Management System (EMS); Assist with site water management.
  • Community Relations: Act as a secondary contact with relevant stakeholders in the local community.

Relationships with Others Functions:

  • Works Closely with the Plant Manager to ensure consistency and alignment of operational priorities across the Market Area.
  • Works closely with the ECAN Manufacturing Group to ensure manufacturing best practices and tools are fully utilized across the market area.
  • Works closely with the Safety Group to develop and maintain a culture of safety.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Safety leadership and continued development of Safety Culture.
  • Meeting annual financial and production targets.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety Improvement Plan.
  • Effective leadership and engagement of all personnel at the site.

Qualification Profile:

Education & Work Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in business, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent people management skills.
