Plant Science - Plant Science Research Assistant

Job Summary : As part of the plant science team, the research assistant will work closely with associate scientists and plant science managers to contribute to advancing plant science research. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biological sciences, excellent organizational skills, data analysis capabilities, and a solid foundation in basic molecular techniques. Strong interpersonal skills and a sense of urgency are essential.

Key Responsibilities :

• Collect and analyze data
• Assist in designing and executing trials
• Support routine plant breeding and phenotyping
• Perform routine plant maintenance (cloning, sowing, watering, pruning, harvesting, etc.)
• Occasional laboratory work
• Organize daily priorities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications :

• B.Sc. (M.Sc. preferred) in plant science, plant pathology, genetics, or related sciences
• 3+ years of experience in industry research, laboratory, or agronomy
• Understanding of plant physiology and biology
• Ability to maintain Security Clearance as per ACMPR
• Strong communication skills in English (written and oral)
• Experience with SOPs, GPP, and / or GMP
• Accountability, proactive behavior, critical thinking, attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Experience managing multiple projects independently and in teams
• Experience with statistical analysis
• Team player with goal-setting skills
• Ability to work in adverse conditions (height, heat, humidity, high-intensity lighting)
• Experience in production planning (asset)
