Job summary

Strathcona Resources Ltd. seeks a Plant Operator for the Lloydminster Thermal Operations team. You will operate and monitor thermal processing equipment, support production targets, and uphold safety standards across all plant areas.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in Oil & Gas (SAGD/CSS), TSASK Third-Class certification (Second-Class asset), and strong teamwork and problem-solving skills. Willingness to relocate if needed.

Qualifications

• Power Engineering TSASK certification at third class; second class is asset.
• 5+ years of Oil & Gas experience (SAGD or CSS).
• Safety leadership and active participation in HSE programs.
• Hands-on knowledge with OT SGs (OTSGs), water/oil treating, and thermal wells.
• Strong teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
• Proactive troubleshooting and problem-solving under dynamic conditions.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field rounds, inspections and data collection to support decisions.
• Maintain stable plant operations meeting production and steam targets.
• Troubleshoot upset conditions and minimize downtime.
• Review, revise and write Operations Procedures.

• Notify leader of emergencies and participate in drills and safety meetings.

Schedule:

Rotating day/night shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extra coverage as needed.

Note:

This position requires the successful candidate to reside in the Luseland/Unity area or willingness to relocate upon hire and hold a valid Class 5 driver's license with driver's abstract. Reporting to the Steam Chief, the Plant Operator is expected to have comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, plant equipment, and plant operations in all areas.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with, and commitment to Strathcona's Health, Safety, Environment and Regulatory (HSER) policies, as well as TSASK and OH&S standards.
• Safely operate and monitor thermal processing equipment and systems
• Conduct field rounds, inspections, and data collection to support operational decisions
• Maintain stable plant operations while meeting production and steam delivery targets
• Troubleshoot upset conditions and take corrective action to minimize downtime and optimize performance
• Prioritize safety, environmental compliance, and production efficiency.
• Review, revise and write Operations Procedures.
• Report deficiencies, maintain accurate logbooks and support MOC and work orders processes.
• Notify leader of emergency/upset situations impacting the facility.
• Lead or support during emergencies, maintenance, and ERP drills.
• Participate in safety meetings and promote a strong safety culture.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Third-Class Power Engineering (TSASK) Certification. Progress toward a Second-Class is considered an asset.
• 5+ years of related industry experience in Oil and Gas (SAGD or CSS).
• Commitment to safety leadership and participation in HSE programs
• Hands-on knowledge with Once Through Steam Generator's (OTSGs), water/oil treating and thermal oil wells.
• Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
• Being proactive with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in dynamic operating conditions
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office programs.
