Job summary

Emterra Group is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the Niagara Material Recovery Facility and Niagara Ecoglass operations. The role focuses on safe, compliant, cost-efficient performance across production, quality, maintenance, logistics, inventory, customer service, and people leadership.

You will manage financial performance, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen customer relationships while advancing automation and process efficiency.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of progressive experience leading plant, production, processing, packaging, logistics, or comparable operations.
• Experience supervising employees in a fast-paced industrial environment; unionized workplace preferred.
• Knowledge of Ontario OH&S requirements and safety leadership.
• Experience with production planning, quality control, inventory, logistics, maintenance, and CI.
• Financial and analytical capability including budgeting, variance analysis, and reporting.
• Strong judgment, organization and problem-solving to balance safety, people, quality and production.
• Effective written and verbal communication and relationship-building.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and learning operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead people and labour relations: recruit, onboard, schedule, coach, develop employees; manage performance; enforce collective agreement.
• Drive safe operations: safety leadership, hazard awareness, training, PPE, inspections, safety committees.
• Manage production: plan/coordinate receiving, processing, packaging, storage, shipment for recyclables and Niagara Ecoglass.
• Protect product quality: establish controls, audit materials, manage inventory accuracy, meet specs.
• Optimize reliability: coordinate maintenance, review inspections, reduce downtime.
• Own financial results: develop budgets, review monthly results, monitor costs and margins.
• Use data to improve performance: maintain records, analyze trends, lead CI initiatives.
• Advance automation: evaluate/implement automation and digital tools to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Support customers and growth: coordinate availability, fulfilment, delivery expectations, input to pricing/sales.
• Maintain compliance: operate under OH&S and Environmental approvals.
• Maintain site readiness: housekeeping, inspections, repairs, records for fire/safety systems.
• Perform other duties and support projects as required.
