Job summary

Emterra Group is seeking an Operations Manager to lead plant operations, including production, logistics, and maintenance, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. The role drives daily production, budget adherence, and process improvements within a busy recycling facility in Peterborough, Ontario.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in plant management, strong leadership, and a solid background in safety and process optimization. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a plant management role.
• Excellent interpersonal, teambuilding and communication skills in a multicultural environment.
• Strong understanding of safety responsibilities in the workplace.
• Demonstrated experience in production planning, logistics and equipment maintenance.
• Strong organizational skills to minimize costs and manage staffing levels.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of plant staff and key operational personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
• Work to optimize production and processing of incoming recyclable material on a shift-to-shift basis based on intake volumes.
• Maximize daily production, increase productivity, minimize residuals, and ensure quality levels for buyers.
• Prepare internal reports including daily bale count, facility inspections, pre and post trip reports, and MRF statistics.
• Understand and monitor the general flow of materials through the system.
• Be proactive in implementing throughput improvements and corrective actions.
• Maintain calendars and logbooks for plant and mobile equipment.
• Ensure compliance with OHSA and Environmental Compliance Approval requirements.
