The next step involves executing a multi-billion dollar phased investment program dedicated to establishing large-scale plants across North America and Europe.

Vianode’s long-term ambition is to supply advanced battery materials to 3 million EVs per year by 2030. Vianode is owned by the world-leading financial company Altor.

About the Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Plant Manager to oversee the operations, development, and financial performance of our Via Two plant in Canada. Responsibilities include ensuring operational preparedness of the project through to successful operations, leading the Plant Operations Teams, managing EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety), production, maintenance, and quality. The position also requires implementing and utilizing the Vianode Business System, driving digitalization initiatives, and maintaining effective communication with authorities and local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the Project Team and global Corporate Functions to ensure operational preparedness for Via Two
  2. Establish relationships and maintain strong connections with authorities and the local community
  3. Develop operational procedures and training programs for successful implementation and execution
  4. Partner with the HR Team for talent acquisition to build a high-performance Operations Team
  5. Address HR matters in line with established policies and processes
  6. Lead plant operations, manage, and support various teams within the plant
  7. Foster teamwork in the plant and develop leadership skills among all employees in the area
  8. Take responsibility for budgeting and achieving financial targets
  9. EHS and Operational KPIs: Ensure the assigned area meets Environmental, Health, and Safety standards and operational key performance indicators
  10. Drive continuous improvement including process technology development and profitability of the plant
  11. Lead and participate in relevant meetings, periodically review, update, follow up, and report on targets

EHS Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to EHS policies - conducting work tasks in accordance with Vianode's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and practices
  2. Act as a role model with a high level of EHS focus and consciousness
  3. Ensure that direct reports comply with EHS standards, policies, and rules
  4. Oversee site safety activities within the plant
  5. Demonstrate commitment and leadership to achieve an incident-free safety culture
  6. Ensure that employees receive needed training and education on EHS matters
  7. Address any safety and environmental issues promptly
  8. Discuss safety concerns openly and bring them to relevant stakeholders
  9. Identify opportunities for EHS improvements and assist in implementing corrective actions

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in relevant leadership roles, preferably within large organizations
  • Strong interest and ability to understand Vianode’s product portfolio and production processes
  • Excellent ability to understand and address customer needs
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Proficiency in English with excellent relationship-building and management skills
  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Capability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong network and ability to establish relationships with the local community and authorities
  • Global mindset with experience working in cross-cultural environments
  • Mobility and openness to travel
