Position Summary

Reporting to a respective Vice President, Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for driving and managing all manufacturing and order fulfillment activities at the plant facility while maintaining continuous and efficient production in required quality and quantity. Develop and lead the Plant Team in achieving or exceeding key performance indicators for safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service, and cost.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Manage capacity to meet business demands. Accountable for product yield, labor efficiency, and overhead expenses;
  2. Foster a safe working environment through strategies focused on accident reduction, energy, and waste minimization. Ensure compliance with all OHS and environmental standards. Investigate and address non-compliance issues and develop preventative measures;
  3. Oversee effective application of QA programs to ensure product quality, ensuring programs are current, functional, and compliant with standards and regulations;
  4. Develop organizational capability and skills to achieve results. Manage performance and development plans, providing feedback through performance discussions;
  5. Promote a work environment aligned with company values and beliefs;
  6. Ensure effective communication within the organization;
  7. Maintain positive labor relations by fostering team spirit and good relationships with Stewards and Union representatives;
  8. Oversee human resource deployment and ensure proper administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement;
  9. Manage end-of-shift production employees.

Requirements

  1. Related Post Secondary Degree with at least 5 years of plant or technical management experience, preferably in Food Processing;
  2. Experience in a union environment is an asset;
  3. Strong people management and leadership skills;
  4. Experience with continuous improvement principles and programs;
  5. Knowledge of Continuous Improvement is an asset;
  6. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder influence ability;
  7. Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills;
  8. Strong business acumen and ability to translate strategy into action;
  9. Collaborative leadership with initiative and sound decision-making skills;
  10. Ability to identify and act on opportunities aligning with plant priorities.
