Reporting to a respective Vice President, Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for driving and managing all manufacturing and order fulfillment activities at the plant facility while maintaining continuous and efficient production in required quality and quantity. Develop and lead the Plant Team in achieving or exceeding key performance indicators for safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service, and cost.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage capacity to meet business demands. Accountable for product yield, labor efficiency and overhead expenses;
- Foster a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization. Ensure compliance to all OHS and environmental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance and manage development of preventative measures;
- Oversee effective application of QA programs and processes to ensure required product quality. Ensure programs and processes are current, functional and comply with company standards and government regulations;
- Continually develop the capability and skill set of the organization to achieve business results. Manage performance and development plans, providing consistent feedback through performance discussions;
- Foster an environment that supports the key company values and beliefs;
- Ensure effective communication throughout the organization;
- Foster a harmonious labor relations environment through promoting team spirit and building positive relationships with the Stewards and the Union representatives;
- Oversee effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure the correct administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement;
- Responsible for managing end-of-shift production employees.
Requirements:
- Related Post Secondary Degree coupled with a minimum of 5 years in plant or technical management experience preferably within the Food Processing industry;
- Prior experience working in a union environment is considered an asset ;
- Demonstrated people management and development capability and proven success in leading and inspiring teams to excel;
- Experience with continuous improvement principles and programs, including engagement in and implementation of these initiatives;
- Knowledge and/or experience in Continuous Improvement an asset;
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels;
- Critical thinker with the ability to apply practices, develop and initiate action plans to meet deadlines and achieve results while respecting core corporate values;
- Strong business acumen coupled with an ability to translate business strategy into practical application;
- Collaborative leadership qualities with the ability to solicit advice from their team and the ability to take charge, show initiative and make sound business decisions;
- Strong business acumen with ability to identify and execute on opportunities that align with plant priorities.
