Héroux-Devtek Inc. in Kitchener is seeking a senior operations leader responsible for P&L and end-to-end machining operations for major aerospace programs. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, align production plans with strategic goals, and drive improvements in efficiency and cost control.

The role requires a engineering degree with substantial experience in aerospace machining, strong leadership, and the ability to manage complex programs under regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (required).
• 7–10 years in a similar position with full P&L experience.
• Proven leadership, accountability, and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Discuss and create with production team a step-by-step production plan.
• Ensure materials and equipment are well maintained and utilized productively.
• Coordinate department activities and ensure cross-communication to meet plant goals.
• Evaluate performance vs goals and implement improvement initiatives.
• Establish administrative controls to ensure attainment of goals.
• Create and monitor the plant budget (P&L responsibility).
• Work with VP, Landing Gear Division to analyze contracts and impact on production.
• Determine effects of new work techniques and ensure up-to-date technology.
• Establish daily production priorities and empower employees.

Information on the division:

Located in Kitchener the 100+ employee facility (99,000 sq. ft.) is Héroux-Devtek’s center of excellence for the machining of medium- to large-size landing gear components.

As part of the Central Division you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, business jets like the Dassault Falcon and important military programs as KC-135, MQ-25 and CH-47 Chinook.

Main responsibilities

• Discuss and create with his/her production team a step by step production plan.
• Assure that materials and equipment used are well maintained and utilized in a productive and appropriate manner.
• Co ordinate the activities of each department and ensure effective cross communication takes place so that plant wide goals and objectives are being met.
• Evaluate actual performances against goals and determines ways to enhance actuals. Plans and executes improvement initiatives.
• Establishes administrative controls what will ensure the attainment and enhancement of these goals.
• Create and monitor the plant budget. (P&L responsibility)
• Work with the Vice President, Landing Gear Division, to analyze contracts and their impact on production.
• Determine the effect of the development of new work techniques and assures we have the most up to date technology.
• Establish daily production priorities.
• Empower employees and offer them the chance to exercise their leadership and motivational skills.
• Establish and communicate objectives and follow through plans for employees.
• Hire direct reports, approve appointments, organizational changes and overtime for the site.
• Maintain a work environment that permits individual growth in a productive environment.
• Ensure health, safety and site security requirements are respected.
• Adhere to all local employment and environmental laws are respected.
• Ability to keep up to date with new machining technology and automation
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering with at least 7-10 years in a similar position.
• Practical experience managing a full P&L within a complex machining operation is a must, preferably in the aerospace sector.
• High level of accountability due to criticality & complexity of the product.
• Ability to work under pressure in the completing of assigned tasks, while effectively working independently.
• Your dynamic motivational and leadership skills allow you to mobilize your employees towards the accomplishment of ambitious goals.
• You possess excellent analytical skills and have a particular interest in solving complex problems.
• Your leadership style encompasses a global outlook that keeps in mind your obligation to the individual. Must adhere to all HD confidentiality regulations and industrial security requirements under ITAR/CGRP directives.
