Job summary

Héroux-Devtek Inc. is seeking an Operational Buyer at our Saint-Hubert Engineering Centre. You will review, analyze, and execute purchasing activities for raw materials, parts, and standard services to meet internal needs while coordinating with suppliers and internal customers.

Based in our Quebec location, you will negotiate pricing and delivery, issue purchase orders, and manage supplier performance. The role requires French/English bilingual skills and familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in aerospace industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Validate material and process requirements.
  • Analyze purchase requisitions per procedures.
  • Review supplier proposals, negotiate pricing and delivery timelines.
  • Issue purchase orders and obtain drawings/specifications as needed.
  • Manage contracts and purchasing files.
  • Follow up with suppliers to meet deadlines.
  • Update systems with delivery information and communicate critical issues to management.
  • Visit suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain planning parameters and monitor supplier performance.
  • Represent Program Supply Chain at operations meetings.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Divisional Controller, the Operational Buyer reviews, analyzes, and executes purchasing activities related to their assigned responsibilities.

The Operational Buyer is accountable to the Commodity Manager for the procurement of raw materials, parts, and standard services in the required quantities, quality, pricing, and delivery timelines to meet the needs of internal customers, while ensuring proper follow-up and coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate various material and/or process requirements
  • Analyze purchase requisitions in accordance with established procedures
  • Review supplier proposals, negotiate pricing, and delivery timelines
  • Issue purchase orders and obtain manufacturing drawings/specifications when required
  • Manage contracts and purchasing files
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure product deliveries meet established deadlines and requirements
  • Update the system with the latest delivery informationIdentify and communicate critical situations to management
  • Visit suppliers to resolve issues as required
  • Maintain planning parameters up to date
  • Manage supplier performance through monitoring and feedback
  • Represent Program Supply Chain at operations meetings when required

Are You Our Ideal Candidate ?

  • College diploma (DEC) Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the aerospace industry (an asset)
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Knowledge of an MRP / ERP system
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (an asset)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a corporate buyer role
