Job Description
De Beers Group is currently seeking a highly motivated Plant Maintenance Supervisor to join the Plant Maintenance team at the Gahcho Kué Mine in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent – Process Plant, this role is responsible for coordinating mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring the quality and efficiency of all maintenance work, and upholding the highest standards of safety for the team. This is a three (3) weeks on/ three (3) off rotation.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong commitment to safe work practices, operational excellence, and a culture of zero harm. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a world-class diamond mining operation in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement mechanical maintenance work orders and schedules to optimize equipment performance and meet operational goals.
- Establish clear expectations and accountability for maintenance teams.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and facilitate weekly safety meetings to promote a strong safety culture.
- Apply preventative maintenance strategies and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns, ensuring maximum equipment availability within budget constraints.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance for the successful execution of bi-weekly plant shutdowns.
- Assess future mechanical system requirements and develop execution plans aligned with plant operations.
- Collaborate with Reliability and Planning teams to drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices and shop operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and legal standards.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology Diploma, or a valid Interprovincial Trades Certificate in a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in mechanical maintenance within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP is considered an asset.
- Valid Safety Risk Management for Supervisors certification or equivalent is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural and remote work environment.
