Job summary

Ml6 is assisting our client in Saskatoon, SK to recruit a Maintenance Manager for a global manufacturing leader in sustainable chemical solutions. You will provide strategic direction while staying hands-on with plant operations and drive reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.

You will lead maintenance strategy, budgeting, capital planning, and KPI driven improvements; develop teams and manage contractors, vendors, and regulatory compliance, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, or Pulp & Paper.
  • 6–10 years in plant operations and/or maintenance management.
  • 5+ years of maintenance/plant leadership, including team leadership.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost management, capital planning, and financial decisions.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with vendors/contractors; negotiation skills are a plus.
  • Labour negotiation experience is required for applicable sites.
  • Strong health and safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory knowledge.
  • Experience with Responsible Care, Reliability Centered Maintenance, CMMS, ERP, and industry codes preferred.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall maintenance strategy and activities for the Saskatoon manufacturing facility.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, control maintenance costs, and optimize spare parts inventory.
  • Lead maintenance planning, budgeting, capital planning, production outage planning, and cost management.
  • Oversee maintenance capital projects from long-term planning through execution and reporting.
  • Support site growth, sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, ethical, and contractor requirements.
  • Lead key people initiatives including recruitment, onboarding, training, talent development, succession planning, and skills development.
  • Monitor maintenance, production, reliability, and quality performance metrics and implement improvements where required.
  • Build strong relationships with employees, contractors, vendors, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the Plant Manager with regulatory and external stakeholder communications.
  • Develop and maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide hands-on technical and operational support when required.
