Qualifications

What Success Looks Like at Layfield

Successful Plant Fabrication Apprentice Technicians at Layfield are self-motivated, highly disciplined, enthusiastic team players responsible for the proper set-up and operation of equipment. They are required to attain maximum levels of productivity, effectiveness, and quality in their daily shift workload while maintaining safety as a top priority.

Plant Fabrication Apprentice Technicians report directly to the Shift Lead Hand and indirectly to the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Safety :

  • Understand, support, and adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings.
  • Complete risk assessment forms.
  • Report any equipment or building damage to supervisors and/or safety team.

Production :

  • Maximize quality, production levels, and efficiencies related to all geosynthetic fabrication activities.
  • Properly set up, operate, maintain, and lubricate all equipment.
  • Contribute to the cleanliness and organization of the fabrication plant and work area.
  • Communicate with the Shift Lead Hand regarding deficiencies in materials and equipment.
  • Utilize Shine Dashboards and Flag System in accordance with production standards.
  • Contribute positively to continuous improvement, teamwork, and workplace quality objectives.

Quality Control & Assurance :

  • Ensure quality in production by following organizational standards and ISO protocols.

What we Look For

  • Completion of grade 12.
  • Previous experience in a plant or fabrication environment.
  • Experience with basic hand tools and plastic fusion welders.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of Quality Program (ISO) is an asset.
  • Previous forklift experience is an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Willing or able to work night shifts.
  • WHMIS Certificate.
