Our client is a manufacturing company seeking a Plant Controller responsible for leading the global cost accounting team to develop and maintain an effective cost accounting system aimed at reducing costs and improving profitability. The role includes reviewing actual versus quoted performance, month-end reporting, involvement in the budget process, and providing accurate, timely financial information to stakeholders. The Plant Controller also ensures internal control compliance and manages tax-related matters.

About the Opportunity

• Meeting business goals: Motivating management to meet financial objectives and providing essential financial information.
• Accounting functions: Deep understanding of SCAR, inventory costing, and their impact on financial statements. Analyzing costs at the equipment level for proper allocation.
• Lean initiatives: Supporting Lean/CI teams.
• Analysis & Reporting: Monitoring costs, variance analysis, and consolidation of reports.
• Systems: Expertise in cost structure, inventory transactions, and financial systems efficiency.
• Team Leadership: Guiding the cost accounting team to perform accurately and efficiently, fostering cooperation across global teams.
• Objectives & Targets: Assisting in setting and measuring cost management goals.
• Communication: Maintaining open, honest communication with all levels.
• Internal Controls & Audit: Ensuring compliance and supporting audits.
• Tax Compliance: Liaising with tax authorities on GST, provincial sales tax, VAT, and corporate income filings.
• Additional Responsibilities: Handling special projects as needed.

About You

• CPA or equivalent qualification
• Experience in financial reporting, tax, audit, and internal controls
• Costing expertise
• Proficiency in MS Office, ERP, and accounting software
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and standard costing
• Leadership skills in performance management and coaching
• Project management experience
• Knowledge of compliance requirements
• Willingness to travel as needed

Salary Range

Up to $150,000 per year
