Job summary

Town of Newmarket invites applications for a Plans Examiner, under the Chief Building Official. The role reviews permit applications and construction drawings to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code, including HVAC and plumbing for large buildings.

Ideal candidates hold a Community College Diploma in Architectural Technology or related field, and possess registration or accreditation with OAA/MAATO/PEO/CET/CBCO.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Community College Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Engineering Technician or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent with demonstrated progressive experience in a municipal environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, approve, issue and respond to permit applications and construction drawings.
• Provide expert support to Building Division staff for large, complex buildings and plans.
• Interpret plans and drawings in relation to Ontario Building Code and related laws.
