Job summary

Wood currently seeks a Planner / Scheduler (Intermediate) for a northern Saskatchewan construction project on a 14 x 14 rotation. The role is site-based and focuses on maintaining the integrated schedule across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

Typical Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the integrated project schedule covering engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.


• Guide contractors in the development and maintenance of detailed construction schedules and look-ahead plans in support of project execution.


• Collect, validate, and update engineering, procurement, and construction progress information from project teams and contractors.


• Review contractor schedule updates and progress reports for scope completeness, logic, and consistency with project requirements.


• Monitor engineering deliverables, procurement activities, material deliveries, permits, and construction progress, and communicate potential schedule impacts to project management.


• Conduct regular field visits to verify construction progress and support progress measurement activities.


• Track schedule performance, identify delays and constraints, and assist with schedule impact assessments and recovery planning.


• Support the preparation and maintenance of project progress measurement and reporting systems.


• Participate in schedule review and coordination meetings with contractors, client representatives, construction personnel, and project team members.


• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure schedule information is current and accurately reflected in the project schedule.


• Develop short-term look-ahead schedules and work plans to support construction execution.


• Prepare bi-weekly and monthly schedule reports, including progress updates, milestone status, critical path activities, look-ahead schedules, and comparisons against baseline schedules.


• Maintain a working knowledge of project scope, contracts, execution plans, and company planning and scheduling procedures.


• Support commissioning and turnover planning activities by tracking system completion status and schedule milestones.


• Work effectively in a remote northern Saskatchewan site environment on a rotational schedule and collaborate with both site and home-office personnel.

Expected

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized institution and / or PMI or AACE certification or technical diploma


• 5 - 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling experience in an EPCM environment together with related construction field experience, preferably in mining


• Strong oral and written communication as well as inter-personal and presentation skills


• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6


• Hands on knowledge of schedule risk analysis software such as Primavera Risk analysis would be an asset


• Additional experience in project reporting, cost control, procurement, contract administration, and construction management support would be considered an asset


• Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required


• Must successfully complete and pass a site-specific pre-access drug and alcohol test as a condition of employment.


• Candidates who will be required to drive on behalf of the company must provide a current (e.g., issued within the last 30 days) acceptable driver's abstract/driving record covering the previous three years.
