Location
This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of City Hall located at 426 Brant Street, Burlington, ON. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor, Community Initiatives, this position is responsible for undertaking planning work to provide an advanced level of planning knowledge and expertise assisting with formulating long-range plans, policies and strategic initiatives in alignment with Provincial and Regional policies and plans. Undertakes stakeholder and community engagement on planning policy projects and provide recommendations to Council and senior management. In addition, this position is responsible for authoring reports and recommendations to Council on matters relating to the City’s land use policy, development applications, Official Plan amendments, Community Planning Permit, rezoning and subdivision applications.

Requirements
University Degree in Urban Planning, Geography or related field. Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and/or Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) is an asset. Two (2) to four (4) years relevant professional planning work experience at the municipal level, and at least one (1) year of policy planning experience is required. A strong working knowledge of computer applications, spreadsheets and databases. This position may require occasional travel between sites and/or City facilities.
