Sunday - Wednesday - 10 hour shifts scheduled from 1-11pm. 6 Month Term.
Position Summary :
As part of Alpha House’s Leadership team, Team Leads provide leadership to front-line staff and assist with crisis management, critical incident debriefing, hiring interviews, and performance reviews. They also provide direct care, support, and services to clients as needed.
Responsibilities of all Team Leads :
- Lead by example and interact with clients in a caring, non-judgmental manner.
- Address client concerns through the grievance procedure and share serious concerns with the Program Manager.
- Provide training, coaching, supervision, and first-level disciplinary actions to staff.
- Respond to and act on concerns from staff related to the Respectful Workplace Policy, Employee Complaints, and Vulnerable Adults Abuse Policy.
- Write and conduct performance reviews of staff, and recommend probation extensions or terminations when necessary.
- Motivate staff to provide high-quality, compassionate client care.
- Assist with staff recruitment and ensure shift coverage using Shift Link, and update payroll with accurate time and attendance codes in Dayforce.
- Attend to crises, ensuring safety and providing debriefings for staff impacted.
- Ensure staff and client safety by staying updated on safety protocols and accreditation standards.
- Report serious issues related to team functioning or staff to the Manager and/or HR.
- Make decisions regarding clients' medical needs, including medication administration.
- Engage with community partners, addiction agencies, Police, EMS, and respond to community concerns.
- Collaborate with other Team Leads and provide updates, data, and statistics for reports.
- Provide clients with treatment options and address treatment requests.
- Supervise hygiene procedures and ensure agency vehicle logs are maintained.
- Conduct shift exchange meetings, check-ins with staff, and manage supplies and resources.
- Participate in team meetings, delegate responsibilities, and oversee financial resources and client funds.
- Ensure timely auditing of client files, manage case engagement, and oversee the Managed Alcohol Program.
- Maintain current reports and data tracking for monthly reports.
- Manage cash float, client funds, SWAP/BBP items, and ensure clients' tenant insurance and rent collection.
- Conduct tenant meetings and client case conferences, and ensure programming meets client needs.
- Prepare intake/exit paperwork and ensure the adherence to policies regarding client care and safety.
Team Lead Qualifications :
- Post-secondary education, minimum 2-year diploma, Bachelor's preferred; those in progress may be considered.
- At least 2 years of successful team leadership experience.
- At least four years of related experience, including three in addictions, mental health, homelessness, or Indigenous populations.
- Understanding of addictions, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and recovery systems.
- Strong communication skills, confidentiality, and experience in group facilitation are assets.
- Compassionate, non-judgmental attitude, crisis management, and advocacy skills.
- Belief in harm reduction and housing first approaches.
- Ability to work shifts, including overnight, and computer literacy in MS Office.
- Understanding of the Protection of Persons in Care Act.
Position Requirements :
- Proof of COVID vaccination.
- Valid Class 5 driver license with ability to obtain Class 4 license.
- Comfortable driving an agency vehicle.
- Ability to assist clients physically and provide a Vulnerable Sector Search (valid within six months).
- FOIP Certification and “It’s your Move” or equivalent Patient Lift training.
- Availability to work day, evening, and overnight shifts (all awake).
