Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is seeking a Mechanical Maintainer / Plumber / Steamfitter for our Chalk River Laboratories site. You will support operations, research and decommissioning by maintaining and repairing piping systems and mechanical equipment, reading drawings, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The position requires a 9,000-hour apprenticeship or equivalent, a strong toolbox of hand and power tools, and the ability to work in a multi-trade environment.

Qualifications

• Education and apprenticeship as plumber/steamfitter or equivalent.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, calibration equipment and shop machinery safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on piping systems and related equipment.
• Commission piping systems and equipment to support operations.
• Construct, fabricate, install and modify piping systems and equipment.
• Decommission piping systems and remove hazards safely.
• Read drawings, work packages, blueprints and technical documentation.
• Maintain maintenance records and complete required sign-offs.
• Coach apprentices and new employees on safe work practices.
• Coordinate with supervisors, planners, schedulers and other trades.
