A leading plumbing and utilities company in Ontario is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Plumber. The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of the water distribution system and domestic plumbing. Requirements include a Red Seal certification or Ontario 306A and 3+ years of experience in a commercial setting. Qualifications

• 3+ years of plumbing experience in a commercial setting.
• Red Seal (Plumbing) Certification OR Ontario 306A required.
• Ability to receive and maintain a Level II security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections.
• Maintain and repair domestic plumbing and heating systems.
• Conduct daily water tests for boiler systems.
• Orders consumables for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Assists with estimates for installation, repair, and replacement work.
• Installs components per drawings and OEM recommendations.
• Inspects subcontractor work and addresses deficiencies as needed.
• Performs other duties within capability and as required.

The Maintenance Mechanic -Plumber is responsible the maintenance of the water distribution system, maintenance and installation of domestic plumbing and heating systems and water softening equipment. This position is paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carries out preventive maintenance inspections and tasks generated by the maintenance management system.
• Maintains and repairs domestic plumbing and hot water heating systems including fixtures, traps, electric hot water heaters, Drain Waste Vent (DWV) systems, airlines and compressors.
• Conducts daily water tests and ensuring correct water chemistry for boiler systems.
• Orders consumables and material for preventive, periodic and corrective maintenance.
• Assists with estimates for installation, repair and replacement of plumbing and heating systems.
• Installs new components in accordance with working drawings and OEM recommendations.
• Assists in the maintenance of domestic heating systems.
• Assists other trades as required.
• Inspects the work of related subcontractors. Corrects minor deficiencies in any trade or specialty within their ability.
• Other duties as required within the capabilities of the individual.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Degree or Diploma in:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Plumbing

The following certifications/designations are considered a requirement:

• Red Seal (Plumbing) Certification OR Ontario 306A
• Gas Fitter (G2)
  • Backflow certification would be considered an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of plumbing experience in a commercial setting
• Utilities/Construction/FMO/Service/Projects

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

• Understand technical documents and drawings
• Organization and time management

Proficient user of:

• Must have a valid G driver’s license
• Must be have or be able to receive and maintain a Level II security clearance with the Government of Canada.
