Job summary

ENMAX is seeking a Piping Integrity Management Specialist to safeguard the integrity of pressure piping across ENMAX Energy facilities. You will provide technical guidance for the PEIMP program and work with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to ensure safe, compliant assets.

The role involves coordinating inspections, managing risks, and supporting continuous improvement of piping integrity. A strong background in codes, standards, and inspection practices is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pressure equipment integrity and related roles.
  • Minimum 5 years focused on design, fabrication, inspection, or examination of piping systems.
  • ABSA In-Service Inspector certification including pressure piping.
  • Experience with Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Systems and piping programs.
  • Knowledge of CSA B51, ASME B31.1, B31.3 and related standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for the implementation, application, and continuous improvement of the PEIMP program across ENMAX Energy facilities.
  • Collaborate with ENMAX's Chief Inspector to provide technical direction, interpretation, and risk-based decision support for pressure piping to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and other stakeholders.
  • Fulfill the role of Owner's Inspector, ensuring fabrication, installation, examination, and testing of pressure piping complies with applicable code requirements and owner specifications.
  • Review and approve documentation related to piping repair and alteration scopes including ITPs, welding procedures, welder qualifications, and NDE reports.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel to conduct constructability reviews and final reviews of turnover packages for compliance.
  • Fulfill the role of In-Service Inspector by assessing pressure piping condition and regulatory compliance for continued safe service.
  • Guide employees and contractors in supporting lifecycle management of pressure piping at ENMAX facilities.
  • Support development and implementation of standards, procedures, and processes for PEIMP.
  • Maintain visibility of PEIMP execution at facilities by tracking issues, risks, and resources.

We are looking for a Piping Integrity Management Specialist . As a Piping Integrity Management Specialist, you'll help keep our people, facilities, and operations safe by supporting the integrity of our pressure piping systems. You'll provide technical expertise and guidance for ENMAX's Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Program (PEIMP), helping ensure our assets operate safely and meet regulatory requirements. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors, you'll coordinate integrity activities, support important inspection and repair work, manage risks, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our program.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise for the implementation, application, and continuous improvement of the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Program (PEIMP) across ENMAX Energy facilities
  • Collaborate with ENMAX's Chief Inspector to provide technical direction, interpretation, and risk-based decision support for pressure piping to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and other stakeholders.
  • Fulfill the role of Owner's Inspector, ensuring fabrication, installation, examination, and testing of pressure piping complies with applicable code requirements and owner specifications
  • Review and approve documentation related to piping repair and alteration scopes including inspection and test plans, welding procedures, welder qualifications, and non-destructive examination reports
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel to conduct constructability reviews, document quality requirements, and perform final reviews of the project turnover packages for compliance.
  • Fulfill the role of In-Service Inspector by assessing pressure piping condition and regulatory compliance to confirm equipment remains safe for continued service.
  • Apply knowledge and expertise to guide employees and contractors in supporting the full lifecycle management of pressure piping at ENMAX facilities, including design, purchasing, fabrication, installation, operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, alteration and decommissioning
  • Supports the development and implementation of standards, procedures, forms, specifications, and processes to ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement ENMAX's program for monitoring Covered Piping Systems
  • Act as a liaison with team members to maintain visibility of PEIMP execution at assigned facilities by tracking issues impacting pressure equipment, monitoring work status, escalating risks, and identifying resources or decisions required to keep program activities on track.
  • Provide inspection and technical support for boiler and pressure vessel integrity activities as required
Education Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • P.Eng, PL.Eng, or engineering technologist designation with APEGA or ASET would be considered an asset
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pressure equipment integrity, including field inspection, quality control, Owner's Inspector, and In-Service Inspector responsibilities
  • Minimum of 5 years focused on design, fabrication, inspection, or examination of piping systems and the construction, operation and maintenance of industrial facilities
  • ABSA In-Service Inspector certification, including pressure piping
  • Experience with the development and implementation of Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Systems, including piping management programs
  • In-depth knowledge of the Alberta Safety Codes Act, Pressure Equipment Safety Regulation, along with associated codes and standards (CSA, ASME, National Board, API, etc)
  • Understanding of thermal power plant equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of assessing the integrity of piping systems
  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes and non-destructive examination methods (ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, phased array, etc) and their application
  • Thorough knowledge of piping codes, including CSA B51, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.3
  • In-depth knowledge of failure mechanisms such as corrosion, fatigue, and creep, and stress corrosion cracking
  • Class 5 driver's license (non-GDL) is required
Assets:
  • CWB W178.2 Welding Inspector Level 2 certification with endorsements for ASME B31.1 and B31.3 is an asset
  • Experience working within an Alberta Owner-User AQP program
