Job summary

G Mining Services is seeking a dynamic Plumbing Technician / Designer to join the team in Brossard, with hybrid work options. The role focuses on the design and development of piping for mining projects, including P&ID review, 2D/3D modeling, MTO preparation and model coordination across disciplines.

Requires a technical degree in mechanical engineering, 5+ years of experience, and fluency in English and/or French. Proficiency with Plant3D/AutoCAD is essential; Ceasar II is an asset.

• Minimum five years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Ability to communicate in English and/or French (professional level).
• Knowledge of Plant3D and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Review process plant piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) with Instrumentation team.
• Apply piping design best practices for operation, wear and maintenance.
• Develop Material Take-Off (MTO) and calculate quantities for projects.
• Model 2D and 3D piping; update 3D models to resolve conflicts.
• Prepare 2D isometrics from the 3D model.

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Lead of Piping Department, the Plumbing Technician / Designer will be part of the team dedicated to the design and development of mining projects. More specifically, the incumbent of this position will be required to:

• Participate in the review of process plant piping and instrumentation (P&ID) diagrams in conjunction with the Instrumentation department;
• Apply design best practices in the mining industry, including pump suctions and discharges for operation, wear and maintenance;
• Develop material and equipment lists based on process characteristics in a database format;
• Model 2D and 3D piping;
• Provide support in the revision of 3D models to resolve interference and design issues;
• Integrate feedback into the 3D model and provide support to resolve model conflicts;
• Develop 2D isometrics from the 3D model;
• Prepare Material Take-Off (MTO) and calculate quantities of materials required for projects.

Requirements

• Technical degree in mechanical engineering or other equivalent training.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Ability to communicate in English and/or French (professional level, oral and written).
• Good knowledge of drawing software such as Plant3D and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Ceasar II considered an asset.
