Job summary

G Mining Services is seeking a dynamic Cost Controller to support financial oversight of local and international mining projects. Reporting to the Project Control Manager, you will manage cost control, change management, and forecasting to keep projects on budget and on schedule.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years in cost control within mining or large infrastructure, strong Excel skills, and experience with Primavera P6.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, business, project management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of cost control experience in mining, construction, energy or major infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in Excel and project control software such as Primavera P6.
• Knowledge of estimation software considered an asset.
• Able to communicate in French and/or English, Portuguese and/or Spanish is considered an asset.
• Certifications such as CCP, CMA, or PMP are considered assets.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project and functional leads to prepare and maintain cost estimates that support effective budget control.
• Support the development and maintenance of the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and cost coding structure.
• Support the development and maintenance of project budget and schedule baselines.
• Support the integration of cost and schedule data through P6 schedule, enabling earned value and progress forecasting.
• Prepare and deliver regular cost reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly), ensuring accuracy and clarity of key cost performance indicators.
• Track project performance against the approved budget, report on variances, and support the implementation of corrective actions when required.
• Support and update the Estimate at Completion (EAC) on a quarterly basis, incorporating actual costs, commitments, and cost trends.
• Monitor cost trends and assist in the validation of invoices, purchase orders and cost allocations to ensure real-time accuracy of project costs.
• Maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, construction and management) and provide consistent cost data to support project decision-making.
• Work closely with project and construction managers to support the resolution of cost-related issues and maintain budget alignment.
• Contribute to cost analyses aimed at identifying savings opportunities and improving resource allocation.

Cost Controller

Summary of responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Control Manager and in close coordination with the Project Control Lead, the Cost Controller supports the financial oversight of both local and international mining capital projects. The incumbent is responsible for cost control, change management support, financial reporting and forecasting, ensuring that project execution remains aligned with established objectives and budgetary frameworks. Additional information

• The position is based at the G Mining Services’ office in Brossard, with the possibility of working in a hybrid mode. Office presence is expected for a minimum of 3 days per week.
• Occasional travel abroad and within Canada may be required.
