A leading mining company in Quebec is seeking a Field Civil Engineer to oversee key responsibilities in the Oko West Gold project. Candidates must hold a degree in Civil Engineering, have a minimum of five years of field experience in heavy construction, and be comfortable communicating in English with additional language skills as a significant asset. Qualifications

Job description

G Mining Services is a multidisciplinary company offering professional services in the mining industry, for underground or surface projects, in precious, base, or industrial metals. G Mining Services is one of the largest mining engineering consulting firms in Quebec, and one of the largest firms recognized for international projects.

The work will be carried out as part of the Oko West Gold project, located approximately 95 km west of the capital Georgetown, in northwestern Guyana. Oko West Gold is an underground mining project located in one of the world's best mining jurisdictions.

To ensure the successful completion of this large-scale project, G Mining Services is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the position of:

Field Civil Engineer

Summary of Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Civil Superintendent on procurement, deliveries and storage of materials, technical support and equipment required on site.
• Collaborate with the design and field teams to ensure construction quality, requests for information coordination and schedule adherence.
• Coordinate the work of the field engineers and provide technical support to the superintendent and foremen.
• Prepare scope of work, conduct technical evaluation, and participate in supplier selection.
• Participate in the preparation of the project construction schedule to include dates and sequence of activities.
• Assess the progress of the schedule and update it regularly.
• Contribute to the design and drawings of temporary work such as scaffolding, shoring, formwork, etc.
• Monitor and control the rebar fabrication.
• Provide quality control assistance at critical times, such as before a concrete pouring.
• Verify specifications and coordinate the concrete QA/QC.
• Contribute to the development of work plans, post work plans and pre‑plan.
• Oversee the documentation of plans and quantity tracking for the project.
• Supervise the work of the material coordinators (Purchasing coordination, reception, storage, inventory).
• Supervise and train local workers on batch plant operation and maintenance activities and safe work practices.
• Ensure that the department complies with environmental, health and safety requirements and company regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Member in good standing of a recognized engineering regulatory body (e.g., OIQ or equivalent international engineering association).
• Minimum of five (5) years field experience in heavy industrial or heavy civil construction projects.
• Experience in the Mining field is an asset.
• Engineering and structural design knowledge in steel and concrete.
• Experience in construction site.
• Experience in planning, cost management and control.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is an asset.
• Comfortable with Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Ability to communicate in French, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch are assets.

• Contract: end of mandate estimated in May 2027, strong potential for extension or extension with G Mining for future projects.
