Job summary

PetroChina Canada Ltd. is seeking a Pipeline Technical Lead to join the LNG Team in Calgary.

This role reports to the General Manager, LNG, and will govern pipeline projects and coordinate with joint venture partners to ensure alignment with PCC requirements and approved plans across development, execution and operation phases. The ideal candidate has a Engineering degree with P.Eng status, 10 years in midstream project governance/management, and experience with large pipeline and compression

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering with P.Eng status.
  • 10 years midstream oil & gas project governance/management experience.
  • Large pipeline and compression projects experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external pipeline governance meetings.
  • Review project documents/agreements and brief management with analysis.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to complete governance work.
  • Support LNG Canada project governance through development, execution and operation phases.
  • Provide pipeline engineering, construction and operations knowledge and analysis.

CNPC isChina's largest oil company and the world's third largest oil company,operating 91 energy-related projects in over 35 countries and regions. PCC hasinvested billions of dollars in an asset-rich portfolio of upstream, midstreamand downstream operations. In Alberta, this includes our MacKay River and Doveroilsands projects, Duvernay Shale Gas and a 50% interest in the Grand RapidsPipeline. In British Columbia, we hold joint venture interests in theGroundbirch tight gas project and LNG Canada.

PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Pipeline Technical Lead to join the LNG Team in Calgary.

Reporting to the General Manager, LNG, the Pipeline Technical Leadwill act as a memberof PetroChina Canada’s (PCC) LNG Asset governance team, understanding projectassociated agreements and company requirements, governing third party project managementand operation, coordinating with other Joint Venture Partners (JVPs), with a focuson ensuring that the Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline projects are planned, executed, and operated per companyapproved plans. This role is responsible for safeguarding PCC's investment interestsin LNG Canada associated pipeline projects.

Theaccountabilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare for and participate in internal andexternal Pipeline related meetings, represent PCC’s requirements and reportback to the team
  • Review project documents and agreements,interpret and brief to management with analysis and recommendations, and ensurecompany’s requirements are reflected in final documents
  • Coordinate with internal function departments tocomplete required governance work
  • SupportLNG Canada project, focusing on project governance of CGL Pipeline throughdevelopment, execution and operating phases
  • Understand the project commercialmodel, rights and obligations of key project agreements such as ProjectDevelopment Agreement and Transportation Services Agreement for Coast GasLinkPipeline and effectively safeguard the rights and interests of PCC
  • Participate in daily governanceactivities of LNGC project, attend various external and internal meetingsthrough platforms such as the JVP Pipeline Subcommittee and working groupmeetings
  • Support PCC LNG Asset GeneralManager and key functional departments, providing pipeline engineering,construction and operations knowledge and analysis related to engineering, execution,schedule and cost, and establish effective communication with PCC LNG Asset GMand key functional departments
  • Establish effective communicationand contact with PCC affiliates companies, Joint Venture Partners, and CGL, andunderstand the positions and opinions of other JVPs on LNGC and CGL relatedmatters
  • Provide support and prepareHeadquarters reports on a regular basis
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering with P.Engstatus
  • 10 years’ midstream oil and gas projectgovernance/management experience, with understanding of associated operatingand commercial model in Canada
  • Large pipeline and compression projectsexperience
  • Demonstrate superior verbal and writtencommunication, particularly the ability to summarize complex situations inconcise yet complete manner
  • Flexible and able to manage multiple prioritiessimultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capableof handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Strong hands-on capability to provide high leveltechnical recommendations independent of disciplines support for pipeline relatedmatters
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environmentwith a team work mentality and build effective working relationship withinternal function departments and JVPs
  • Ability to speak and write in Mandarin an asset
  • Legally able to work in Canada
