Overview

Pipelayer (Water & Sewer Division)

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.

Job Type: Full Time, Seasonal

Job Starts: April-May 2025

Schedule: 10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week

Location: Edmonton and Surrounding Area’s - no direct access to public transportation

  • CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support

Pre-employment:

  • Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
  • Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

Description:

Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for assembling, connecting and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains and water mains. Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes. Aligns pipes and seals joints together with cement or glue.

Pipelayer Responsibilities:

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a pipelayer.
  • Directs activities within the trench to ensure the pipe is laid to the designed vertical and horizontal tolerances using levels or lasers.
  • Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding, cementing or sealing with glue.
  • Monitors backfill of pipe bedding to ensure proper haunch support.
  • Assist in lot servicing and all other duties as required by Foreman.
  • Install and repair sanitary and storm water, sewer structures and pipe systems.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
