Irving Shipbuilding is recruiting for a Pipefitter, Red Seal - HSL, Local 1 in Halifax, NS.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret marine or industrial blueprints, pipe detail arrangement drawings, and work from standard and metric specifications.
• Layout, fabricate, and fit up pipe assemblies including fittings, flanges, and valves utilizing various tools and equipment.
• Work with various pipe materials such as carbon steel, copper-nickel, and stainless steel along with the appropriate valves and fittings.
• Instruct and mentor apprentices.
• Ensure eligibility to work in Canada.
• Complete a pre-employment physical.
• Undergo a background check conducted by the employer.
• Perform physical tasks and work in conditions such as heights, confined spaces, inclement weather, and extended hours/overtime as needed. Handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, with occasional lifts over 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Completion of college, CEGEP, vocational, or technical training.
• Pipefitter trade certification.
• 5-8+ years of verifiable marine or industrial pipefitting experience; experience in marine/industrial industry is an asset.
• WHMIS certificate.
• All applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
