Job Description

Irving Shipbuilding is recruiting for Pipefitter, Red Seal - HSL, Local 1 in Halifax, NS.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret marine or industrial blueprints, pipe detail arrangement drawings, and work from standard and metric specifications.
• Layout, fabricate, fit up a pipe assembly including fittings, flanges, and valves utilizing various tools and equipment.
• Work with various pipe materials such as carbon steel, copper-nickel, and stainless steel along with the appropriate valves and fittings.
• Instruct and mentor apprentices.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
• A pre-employment physical is required.
• A background check will be completed by the employer.
• Physical effort and work conditions include working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions, supporting extended hours and overtime as needed. Handling parts weighing up to 50 lbs, with occasional heavier lifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
• Pipefitter trade certification.
• 5-8+ years of verifiable marine or industrial pipefitting experience.
• Experience in marine/industrial industry is an asset.
• WHMIS certificate.
• Must meet requirements for Canadian CGP, Canadian Security clearance, and U.S. ITAR.
