Job summary

Highland Valley Copper is seeking a Pipefitter Journeyperson to support troubleshooting, maintenance and new project installations at the mine site. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will ensure reliable water and waste systems and contribute to ongoing plant operations.

The role requires a Red Seal along with blueprints reading, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team in a remote BC mining setting.

Qualifications

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Pipefitter/Steamfitter.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read blue prints.
• HDPE fusing, fire protection equipment, process piping, valve installations and maintenance experience are assets.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Experience in a mining environment is an asset.

About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operationsis Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Pipefitter Journeyperson is responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and new project installations throughout the mine site.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, maintenance and repair of water and waste disposal systems
• Diagnosis of system problems
• Disassemble and reassemble system components as required

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to read blue prints
• Experience with HDPE fusing, fire protection equipment, process piping, valve installations, and maintenance is an asset

• Experience in a mining environment is an asset

Hourly Wage: $56.61

Working Conditions:

• Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
• Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
