Qualifications

• Journeyperson Electrician with Red Seal Endorsement or related technical diploma.
• Diploma/certification in RF systems, wireless communications, networking, electronics, or related discipline (asset).
• Previous supervisory/leadership experience in maintenance/tech fields (preferred).
• Experience with wired/wireless networking in mining/industrial environments (required).
• Experience with mine tech: radio comms, wireless infra, fleet/dispatch systems (asset).
• Strong troubleshooting and coordination skills for equipment/system failures.
• Proficiency in MS Office and CMMS (Maximo or SAP).
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader and enforce safety rules.
• Lead, coach, and direct the MST team.
• Coordinate daily MST activities: planned maintenance, break-in work, troubleshooting.
• Ensure work aligns with maintenance plans and standards.
• Support reliability of mine tech, wireless networks, and field infrastructure.
• Maintain relationships with Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, IT, Engineering, and vendors.
• Collaborate with Planning to scope and plan MST work.
• Develop and sustain preventative maintenance strategies with Reliability.
• Coordinate troubleshooting and vendor support for failures.
• Review work orders for quality and follow-up.
• Monitor PM compliance, backlog, and system reliability.
• Foster accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Mine Maintenance , the Mine Systems Technician (MST) Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the MST team in the safe and effective execution of planned and break-in maintenance. The role supports the reliability and availability of critical mine technology and communication systems while working closely with Mine Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, IT, Engineering, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader; adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
• Provide leadership, coaching, direction, and support to the Mine Systems Technician team.
• Coordinate and prioritize daily MST activities, including planned maintenance, break-in work, troubleshooting, and operational support.
• Ensure work is executed safely, effectively, and in accordance with established maintenance plans, procedures, and standards.
• Support the reliability and availability of critical mine technology, communication, wireless networking, and field infrastructure.
• Maintain strong working relationships with Mine Maintenance, Operations, Electrical, Reliability, IT, Engineering, Planning and Scheduling, and external vendors.
• Work closely with Planning and Scheduling to ensure MST work is properly scoped, planned, resourced, and ready for execution.
• Work with Reliability to develop, implement, and sustain preventative maintenance strategies for MST assets and infrastructure.
• Coordinate technical troubleshooting and vendor support for system and equipment failures as required.
• Review recurring equipment and system issues and support the development of corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Ensure employees have the appropriate training, tools, procedures, materials, and technical support required to safely complete their work.
• Manage workforce requirements, daily assignments, vacation coverage, training, and other supervisory responsibilities.
• Review completed work and work order documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and appropriate follow-up.
• Monitor maintenance performance, PM compliance, backlog, system reliability, and other key performance indicators.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement within the MST team.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Interprovincial Electrician with Red Seal Endorsement, or a related technical diploma or engineering degree.
• Diploma or certification in Radio Frequency Systems, Wireless Communications, Networking, Electronics, or a related technical discipline is considered an asset.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance, technology, communications, electrical, or a related field is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of wired and wireless networking techniques and experience delivering or supporting technology within a mining or industrial environment.
• Experience with radio communications, wireless infrastructure, fleet management systems, dispatch systems, or other mine technology is considered an asset.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to coordinate resources and technical support during equipment or system failures.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite® and proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems such as Maximo or SAP .
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, and direct a team.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and resourcing skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Pay Range: CAD $108,000 - $133,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Working Conditions:

• Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
• Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
