Job summary

DFI Piling Group in Edmonton, AB, is seeking a Pipe Mill Line Operator to run the ERW pipe mill line from coil entry through forming, welding and cut-to-length. You will perform quality checks, operate an overhead crane, and support changeovers with speed and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Background in steel manufacturing, pipe mill, or structural steel production preferred.
• Heavy industrial or manufacturing experience in a plant environment.
• Overhead crane certification or experience is a strong asset.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic issues.
• Strong safety record and commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the ERW pipe mill line from coil entry through forming, welding, and cut-to-length.
• Perform quality checks at your station—dimensional inspection, weld integrity, and surface condition.
• Operate overhead crane to move coils, pipe sections, and finished product safely and efficiently.
• Set up, adjust, and fine-tune mill tooling and roll configurations as directed.
• Complete pre-shift equipment inspections and report any deficiencies before running the line.
• Support changeovers between pipe sizes or product runs—speed and accuracy matter.
• Document production data accurately—footage, heat numbers, inspection results, downtime.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; housekeeping is a safety function.
