Job summary

STARS is seeking a Pilot for the Grande Prairie base in the Aviation department. The role involves piloting STARS aircraft, maintaining a category 1 medical, and staying current with regulations, publications, and training standards.

The position supports a 24/7/365 patient care mission and requires flexibility for day and night shifts. Preferred candidates hold a Commercial Rotary Wing Licence, 1000+ helicopter hours, and an instrument rating; an H145 type rating is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Current aircraft captain or eligible to upgrade to captain in 6 months.
  • A valid Commercial Rotary Wing Licence.
  • A minimum of 1000 hours of helicopter experience.
  • Multi-Engine and Night/IFR experience desirable.
  • Helicopter Airline Transport Licence exams completed.
  • Group 4 Instrument rating and Helicopter Night Ratings are required.
  • Valid Class 1 medical.
  • Airbus H145 type rating will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to complete the Controlled Goods Security Assessment for Night Vision Goggle use.
  • Immunization records with required vaccinations.
  • Schedule includes day and night shifts for 24/7/365 patient care mission.

Job description

Each year, we fly over 3,000 missions, providing worldclass critical medical care whenever and wherever we are needed, and every team member contributes to helping that VIP. We are a lifeline to the community when time and clinical expertise can make all the difference.

We are currently looking for a Pilot at our Grande Prairie base in the Aviation department.

Please note: there is a touring option available for this role, however preference will be given to those willing to relocate to Grande Prairie.

Base Pilot: Schedules may vary. Typical rotation consists of 4 to 6 day shifts followed by 4 to 6 night shifts, with 8 to 12 consecutive days off between rotations.

Touring Pilot: Schedule requirements. Rotation will generally be 8-12 days on followed by 8-12 days off, shifts will be consist of 4-6 days, 4-6 nights, with 8-12 days off. Schedule will be set and communicated by STARS within the last 3 months of the preceding year for following year.

Please note: you must be available for the AH145 training course start date of: November 8, 2026.
