A leading health authority in Victoria is seeking a dedicated Physiotherapist to provide essential physiotherapy services to children with physical disabilities. This role emphasizes a family-centered approach, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with families and professionals. The successful candidate will demonstrate clinical competency and the ability to work independently while contributing to the well-being of children in a school setting. Travel may be required, and a valid BC Driver's License is necessary.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority ( Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Within the context of a multi-disciplinary plan within a school setting for the child and family, provides diagnostic and remedial physiotherapy services to the child with physical disabilities to maintain and improve joint range of motion, strength, endurance, coordination, mobility, and physical independence through exercise, handling, use of adaptive equipment and therapeutic modalities to support educational outcomes. May provide work direction and/or training to Physical Medicine Assistants, Educational Assistants, Teachers and other caregivers.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And ExperienceGraduation from a recognized university program in Physiotherapy. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Physiotherapist. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Minimum one year experience in pediatric physiotherapy, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC Driver's License.
