The Physiotherapist is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health and the clinical programs in which care is provided. Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the physiotherapist enhances the quality of life of patients by assessing, planning and implementing individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning and cardio-respiratory health, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Attends all departmental meetings and participates in team rounds and conferences in assigned Program/ Department
Completes and submits workload measurements/ statistics, and other documentation as required
Educates patients, caregivers and team members, and plans maintenance and support programs to prevent re-occurrence, re-injury or functional decline
Improves and maintains optimal functional independence and physical performance
Maintains documentation in accordance with departmental/program policies and organizational standards
Manages acute and chronic conditions, activity limitations, and participation restrictions
Prevent disease, injury, and disability
Promotes optimal mobility, physical activity and overall health and wellness
Rehabilitates injury and the effects of disease or disability with therapeutic exercise programs and other interventions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to exercise sound clinical judgement and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
Computer proficiency
Demonstrates competence with departmental and organizational safety, emergency and infection control procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
French language proficiency is considered an asset
License to practice Physical Therapy in Ontario – Required
Master’s degree or equivalent in Physical Therapy – Required
1-2 years of relevant internship/educational placement experience – Required
Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association – Required
