We are seeking a compassionate and culturally safe Physiotherapist to provide wholistic rehabilitation services within an Indigenous healthcare setting. The Physiotherapist will work collaboratively with Indigenous clients, families and an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support physical wellness, mobility, injury recovery, chronic disease management and community-based health promotion. The successful candidate will emphasize active rehabilitation approaches over passive modalities, empowering clients through movement, education, and goal-oriented treatment planning. The successful candidate will demonstrate respect for Indigenous cultures, traditions and ways of knowing, contributing to a healthcare environment grounded in cultural humility, trauma-informed care and reconciliation principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, diagnose and develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans for clients across the lifespan.
• Provide rehabilitation services for musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiorespiratory and chronic health conditions.
• Deliver treatment interventions including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, mobility training, pain management and functional rehabilitation.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with Ontario standards and organizational policies.
• Build respectful and trusting relationships with Indigenous clients, families, Healers/ Elders and community members.
• Integrate culturally safe and trauma-informed approaches into clinical practice.
• Support traditional healing practices where appropriate and collaborate respectfully with traditional healers and community wellness teams.
• Participate in community outreach, wellness initiatives and health promotion programs.
• Travel to remote or satellite communities as required.
• Collaborate with primary care & mental health providers, Traditional Healers and other allied health professionals.
• Participate in case conferences and coordinated care planning.
• Provide education and guidance to clients, caregivers and healthcare staff regarding rehabilitation strategies and injury prevention.
• Assist in developing community-based rehabilitation and wellness programs.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and culturally responsive healthcare practices.
• Support data collection, reporting and outcome measurement activities as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
• Current registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
• Experience working in community health, rural, remote, or Indigenous healthcare settings is considered a strong asset.
• Demonstrated commitment to evidence-informed, exercise-based physiotherapy practice, with the ability to assess, prescribe and progress individualized therapeutic exercise programs that promote functional independence, mobility, chronic disease management, injury prevention and long-term self-management.
• Experience with chronic disease management, mobility rehabilitation and community-based care preferred.
• Knowledge of Indigenous health issues, health inequities and the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma is highly valued.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to cultural safety, equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
• Excellent clinical reasoning and organizational skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic healthcare environments.
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence and ability to travel between London and Chippewas of the Thames to fulfill responsibilities of role.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Current and Satisfactory Police Check.
