Job summary

AgeCare Dawson is seeking a Physiotherapy Aide to support rehabilitation for residents. You will assist in assessment, planning and delivery of therapy programs, while performing clerical tasks and equipment upkeep.

Casual position with opportunities to contribute to resident wellbeing and care, under guidance from licensed professionals. Fluency in English and strong communication are essential to engage diverse residents and teams.

• Fluent in English, both oral and written.
• Post-secondary Rehabilitation Therapist Diploma completed.
• Strong verbal and written communication with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rehabilitation needs of residents under PT/OT guidance.
• Help assess, plan, implement and monitor therapy programs.
• Support department clerical tasks and equipment handling.
• Repair or modify resident equipment as directed.
• Maintain infection control in treatment areas and equipment.
• Distribute equipment and maintain inventory.
• Record data and participate in information sharing.

The Opportunity:

The Physiotherapy Aide will assist with the rehabilitation needs of our residents. This position assists in assessing, planning, implementation and ongoing delivery of therapy programs to encourage residents to function at their maximum potential of independence. The Physiotherapy Aide provides approved and directed therapy interventions to residents, clerical support to department, housekeeping duties with regards to equipment, and other tasks as required.

What You Will Do:

• Provides assistance for Healthcare Professionals (PT / OT).
• Monitors resident ability to participate in therapy intervention.
• Prepares and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies and assists with maintenance programs (individual or group) as directed by the Therapist.
• Provides repairs or modifications to resident equipment as needed.
• Maintains infection control practice of treatment area and equipment.
• Provides and distributes equipment as needed.
• Participates in information sharing and communication.
• Collects records and manages data in computer program.

What You Will Need:

• Post-secondary education is an asset.
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
• Completion of a Rehabilitation Therapist Diploma.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse population
