Position Summary
The Department of Internal Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, and Shared Health Manitoba invite applications for a physician position in the Section of Geriatric Medicine.
This is a part-time academic fee-for-service position with a flexible start date, negotiable based on the candidate’s availability. The successful applicant will participate in geriatric medicine clinical services and demonstrate strong academic potential, including demonstration of effective communication skills and a track record of prior clinical work. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will also contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching to help further develop the specialty of geriatric medicine through quality education.
Candidates must hold specialty qualifications in geriatric medicine from the country of their current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred.
About The Section Of Geriatric Medicine
The Section of Geriatric Medicine is the oldest academic geriatric medicine section in Canada, and is dedicated to excellence in patient care, groundbreaking research, and high-quality medical education at all levels. As one of 18 sections within the Department of Internal Medicine, the largest academic department at the Max Rady College of Medicine, the section consists of a skilled team specializing in the healthcare needs of older adults.
The section operates across a broad network of healthcare facilities, including health centres, geriatric day hospitals, outreach teams, low-acuity care sites, and inpatient rehabilitation facilities. The clinical and academic work is supported by six full-time academic geriatricians, nonacademic geriatricians and Care of the Elderly physicians.
Candidates must hold specialty qualifications in internal medicine and geriatric medicine from the country of their current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred.
