Job summary

William Osler Health System is seeking a Physician Assistant to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in the Emergency Department under physician supervision. You will perform patient interviews, histories, examinations, and coordinate diagnostic investigations in a fast-paced, inter-professional team.

The role requires completion of PA education, NCCPA certification, and active ACLS/PALS/Neonatal Life Support.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of the Physician Assistant Bachelors degree at McMaster University or the University of Toronto consortium.
  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant.
  • Certified or eligible to be certified through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support are mandatory
  • Experience working in an emergency department preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in both a verbal and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines
  • Demonstrated competency to perform complete and appropriate clinical assessment and development of a treatment plan in accordance with medical directives
  • Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative medical model of care with all members of the health care team
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record
  • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Service, Excellence, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration

Job Description

Working with a team of health professionals in an inter‑professional collaborative model and under the supervision and/or delegation of a supervising physician (and in accordance with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario's policy on delegation) the Physician Assistant will provide quality patient focused care to patients in the Emergency Department under medical directives or direct orders.

Additional Information

Hours: Currently Days/Evenings, 8 and 12 hours shifts (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)



Salary

Minimum: $52.36 per hour


Maximum: $64.98 per hour
