Job summary

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant for a full-time position in Plastic Surgery at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.

The role involves performing history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting tests, and participating in rounds and postoperative care within a collaborative surgical team. English communication and CPSM eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant.
• Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment.
• Prior experience preferred.
• Graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to CPSM.
• Clinical Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad.
• Must have at least one of: Clinical Assistant Assessment, NAC OSCE, LMCC.

Responsibilities

• Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic, therapeutic investigations/interventions.
• Conduct history and physical exams in settings such as Emergency Department and wards; follow patients in pre/peri/postoperative care.
• Attend clinical and educational rounds; participate in standard practice recordings of patient encounters.
• Dictate or use electronic medical records for documentation where available.
• Communicate effectively in English with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Description

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant for a full-time position in Plastic Surgery at Health Sciences Centre.

Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic, therapeutic investigations/interventions. Duties of this position can/will include performing history and physical exams in a variety of settings that could include the Emergency Department and wards, as well as following patients in the pre/peri/postoperative ward and/or other clinical settings.

Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative requirements will include standard of practice recordings of all patient encounters, these methods may require dictating or utilizing electronic medical records where/when available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

THIS IS NOT A MEDICAL ASSISTANT OR MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT POSITION

Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications and is accompanied by a benefits package.
