Your Opportunity:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is recruiting for a 1.0 FTE Physician Assistant (PA) position at Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) to work in maternity and women’s health care. Description:

RGH is a community hospital in Calgary’s southwest, serving a diverse population with approximately 5000 high- and low-risk deliveries annually. The successful candidate will join a team of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, working Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM. Responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing, creating, and communicating care plans for maternity triage, including labor assessments, antepartum complications, hypertension management, NST interpretation, inductions, and point-of-care ultrasounds.
  2. Assessing and managing obstetric complications in the emergency department.
  3. Performing telephone follow-ups with obstetrical or postpartum patients.
  4. Assisting high-risk obstetrical team with postpartum care.
  5. Providing teaching opportunities to medical students and residents.
  6. Surgical assisting, depending on skill set.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of a recognized PA program.
  2. Active registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  3. BCLS certification.
  4. Experience in Connect Care and acute hospital settings preferred.
  5. Skills in women’s health history and physical exams, excellent communication, trauma-informed care, and technical procedures like speculum exams, Foley catheter insertion, and POCUS.
