Job summary

Western Community College seeks a knowledgeable Pharmacy Technician Instructor to teach in the Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program at the Surrey Campus. The instructor will deliver lectures, facilitate hands-on learning, and mentor students for success in community and hospital settings.

The ideal candidate holds BC Pharmacy Technician licensure, at least 2 years of technician experience, and teaching or training experience. Provincial Instructor Diploma or progress toward it is preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered and/or licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist in British Columbia (CPBC).
• 2 years of work experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Classroom and clinical teaching experience is an asset.
• Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent, or two-year teaching/training experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver theory instruction in-person or online aligned with course objectives and learning outcomes.
• Prepare lesson plans and materials engaging diverse learners; explain course outlines and assessment criteria.
• Provide feedback on student progress and support learning needs; assess and submit grades on time.
• Supervise practicum placements, when applicable, and liaise with practicum sites; ensure safety and professional standards.
• Maintain lab equipment and assist with instructional planning and curriculum updates.
• Attend faculty meetings and participate in program initiatives; arrange make-up sessions as needed.

Job Title: Instructor - Pharmacy Technician Program

Western Community College is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Pharmacy Technician Instructor to teach in our Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program at the Surrey Campus. The instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging lectures, facilitating hands-on learning, and supporting students in developing the skills required to succeed in both community and hospital pharmacy settings. The ideal candidate will bring practical experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of Pharmacy Technicians.

Professional Requirements

• Registered and/or licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist in British Columbia, with CPBC (College of Pharmacists of British Columbia).
• 2 years of work experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Classroom and clinical teaching experience is an asset.
• Completion of, working towards, or will be working towards Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent OR has two-year teaching/training experience.

Responsibilities

Theory Instruction (In-Person or Online)

• Deliver lectures aligned with course objectives and program learning outcomes.
• Prepare lesson plans, presentations, and materials that engage diverse learners.
• Explain course outlines, expectations, and assessment criteria at the start of each course.
• Provide regular feedback on student progress and support student learning needs.
• Assess assignments and exams and submit grades within required timelines.
• Participate in curriculum development, updates, and instructional planning.

Lab Instruction (if applicable)

• Facilitate hands‑on practice sessions that align with theory content and program skills checklist.
• Demonstrate procedures and coach students in correct technique and patient care approaches.
• Evaluate student performance in simulated environments and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Maintain lab equipment and ensure proper setup for sessions.
• Provide individual support to students during skill development activities.

Practicum Supervision (If Applicable)

• Supervise students during off-site practicum placements in alignment with program-specific guidelines.
• Serve as the point of contact between the college and practicum site, ensuring professional standards are met.
• Observe and assess students' application of theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.

General Responsibilities (All Instructors)

• Discuss students' progress and address academic concerns as needed.
• Submit all required records and documentation, including attendance and grades, in a timely manner and in accordance with institutional policies and established processes. Accurately track and report student attendance and grades through the system as required.
• Attend faculty meetings and participate in program and college initiatives.
• Participate in faculty performance reviews, if required.
• Arrange make‑up sessions for hours missed due to illness or other absences.
• Comply with all college policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program manager, College Dean, or President.

Expected Start Date: September 14, 2026

End Date: July 5, 2027

Schedule: Monday to Friday, From 9 AM to 2 PM
