Job summary

Northern Health - BC is seeking a licensed Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy department in Prince George, BC. The role involves processing medication orders, verifying prescriptions, compounding when needed, and maintaining patient information in the pharmacy system.

The successful candidate will work under pharmacist supervision, ensure accuracy, and support stocking and clerical duties while aligning with organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with provincial licensing in BC.
  • Ability to process and verify prescriptions accurately.
  • Comfort with compounding and medication orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and patient safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Process medication orders after pharmacist review.
  • Receive prescriptions from practitioners and verify authenticity.
  • Prepare, process, and compound prescriptions.
  • Verify accuracy of dispensed prescriptions.
  • Handle prescriptions for inpatient leaves and inter-pharmacy transfers.
  • Enter and maintain drug and patient information in the pharmacy system.
  • Maintain stock levels and perform clerical duties.

Overview

Are you a registered Pharmacy Technician looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Pharmacy department.

Responsibilities
  • In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Pharmacy Technician operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and scope of practice and standards of practice for Pharmacy Technicians as outlined by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia, and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols.
  • Process medication orders that are clinically reviewed for therapeutic appropriateness and approved by a Pharmacist.
  • Receive verbal and non-verbal prescriptions from practitioners and ensure that prescriptions are complete and authentic.
  • Prepare, process and compound prescriptions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others by verifying order entries and/or performing the final check of dispensed prescriptions.
  • Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence.
  • Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies.
  • Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the Pharmacy information system.
  • Maintain stock levels and perform clerical duties as assigned.
Shift and Scheduling

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Friday to Tuesday, Days, multiple shift options include 06:00–14:00, 06:30–14:30, 07:00–15:00, 07:30–15:30, 08:00–16:00, 10:00–18:00. Rotation/days of work subject to change based on operational needs.
