Why this role is important?

As a Pharmacy Order Entry Specialist, you will use your Pharmacy Assistant expertise within the pharmacy industry to specialize in inputting prescriptions into MediSystem Pharmacy's computer system. You will be responsible for accurately processing prescriptions, changes, and refills, as well as updating patient/resident electronic records. Strong communication skills are essential to discuss important information with colleagues and external partners (physicians/nurses at long-term care facilities).

What you'll do:

  1. Retrieve faxed or electronic physician's orders, prescriptions, or requests for prescription refills
  2. Enter prescriptions, refills, and prescription changes into the patient's record
  3. Create new patient profiles and maintain existing records on the MediSystem database
  4. Prepare prescription label printouts
  5. Perform ad hoc tasks as required
  6. Promote inclusiveness and belonging in the workplace

What you bring:

  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Self-motivated with a passion for high-quality client service and relationship building
  • Strong computer skills for navigating various systems quickly
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills with attention to detail
  • Preferred qualifications include:
  • An undergraduate degree in science or related field, or a pharmacy diploma/certificate
  • Experience with Kroll and weekly dispensing (multi-dose or compliance packaging) are assets

This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.
