Job Summary:
Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow, improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience. Oversees pharmacy staff performance and engagement, and ensures their professional development through training, coaching, and performance management initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Patient Experience
- Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues promptly and answers questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience, demonstrating care and Walgreens service traits.
- Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, promoting the shift from transactional to interpersonal pharmacy role.
- Participates in community events as requested.
Operations
- Counsels patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and privacy, referring to medical providers as needed.
- Performs tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Reviews and dispenses medications accurately, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Maintains pharmacy operations in accordance with laws and standards, overseeing workflow and staff scheduling.
- Ensures adherence to Good Faith Dispensing policies and collaborates on strategic business opportunities.
- Supports pharmacy systems, processes insurance claims, and resolves third-party issues.
- Follows up with providers on prescriptions and performs clinical and wellness services.
- Manages pharmacy maintenance and ensures documentation compliance.
People & Performance Management
- Collaborates on hiring, discipline, and compliance with employment laws.
- Establishes expectations, promotes teamwork, and manages staff performance and development.

Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the relevant states.
- Certified Immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days.
- At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including prescription filling, legal compliance, and pharmacy systems.
- Strong knowledge of controlled substance laws and prescription dispensing.
