Job summary

CareRx is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team in Sudbury, Ontario. You will support the preparation, packaging, and organization of medication deliveries and assist with daily operations in line with Pharmacy Standards of Practice.

This on-site role offers a collaborative environment focusing on senior care in LTC homes and retirement communities. Training provided; prior pharmacy assistant experience or certification preferred, with familiarity in KROLL and PacMed assets.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification preferred; training provided.
  • Familiarity with KROLL and PacMed is an asset.
  • Basic working knowledge of pharmacy inventory processes.
  • Visual acuity, numeracy, attention to detail and manual dexterity for handling packs and labels.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff via dispensary software.
  • Prepare and label medication for compliance packaging and maintain workflow for prescriptions.
  • Process refills in Kroll.
  • Package medications (blister packs, vials, strips).
  • Synchronize data with PacMed machine.
  • Complete corrections of medication rolls through PacVision.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory management and operate PacMed for processing and filling prescriptions.
  • Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes; unpack, sort, and dispose of medications.
  • Prepare creams and liquids.
  • Generate daily and weekly production reports.
  • Maintain stock levels, restock shelves and reorder medications.
  • Prepare both manual and automated compliance packaging.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality, uphold ethics, and keep a clean pharmacy environment.
  • Handle day-to-day maintenance of pharmacy operations individually and with teammates.
  • Other duties within the Pharmacy Assistant scope as required.

Role Accountabilities
  • Ensure precise record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff is filled via dispensary software

  • Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, including unpacking, sorting and disposail of medications
  • Preparing creams and liquids
  • Generate daily and weekly production reports
  • Maintain stock levels, restocking shelves and reorder medications
  • Preparer both manual and automated compliance packaging.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to ethical standards, and contributing to a clean pharmacy environment
  • Day-to-day maintenance of our pharmacy operations both independently and in cooperation with teammates
  • Other duties will be assigned as required within the Pharmacy Assistant scope of responsibilities.
Shipping
  • Organizing and coordinating deliveries to shipping
  • Reconciling shipping medications with shipping reports and delivery totes
  • Packaging items to ship
  • Coordinating with drivers and facilities
What You Will Bring to The Team:
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but notrequired- training will be provided for the position
  • Experience with KROLL and/or Pacmed an asset
  • Basic working knowledge of pharmacy inventory processes
  • Visual acuity, num eracy, detail oriented, manual dexterity required for appropriate handlingof strip packs, prescriptionbottles and labels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
Physical Demands

This position requires prolonged standing and walking, repetitive hand movements, manual dexterity, visual attention to detail, and the ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry pharmacy supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. The successful candidate must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

Compensation Range: $19.02

Location: This is on-site role at our Sudbury location and follows a five-day workweek.
