Job summary

CareRx Corporation seeks a Pharmacy Assistant, L1, to support medication preparation, packaging, and delivery within our LTC and retirement community network. You will help with daily operations in line with Pharmacy Standards of Practice, on-site in Peterborough.

The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and efficient workflow, with training provided where needed. Compensation ranges are provided and benefits may apply; on-call rotation is possible.

Qualifications

  • Experience or certification in Pharmacy Assistant is preferred, training provided.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in med records.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate prescription records and nursing staff data entry.
  • Prepare and label medications for compliance packs and organize prescriptions.
  • Process refills in the dispensing system and packaging medications.
  • Maintain inventory, restock shelves, and handle returns.

CareRx is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant, L1 to join our Pharmacy team in supporting a group of LTC Homes and Retirement Communities. The Pharmacy Assistant will assist with the preparation, packaging, and organization of medication deliveries, while supporting daily operations in accordance with the Pharmacy Standards of Practice.

Role Accountabilities

The duties listed below are within the scope of the Pharmacy Assistant L1

  • Ensure precise record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff is filled via dispensary software
  • Prepare and label medication for compliance pack aging and maintain workflow for receiving and processing prescriptions within timelines.
  • Processing refills in Kroll
  • Packaging medications (i.e., blister packs, vials, strips)
  • Synchronizing data with the PacMed machine
  • Completing corrections of medication rolls through PacVision
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory management and po potentiall y operate automated dispensing machine (PacMed) for processing and filling prescriptions
  • Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, including unpacking, sorting and disposa l of m edicaments
  • Preparing creams and liquids
  • Generate daily and weekly production reports
  • Maintain stock levels, restocking shelves and reorder medications
  • Preparer e both manual and automated compliance packaging.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to ethical standards, and contributing to a clean pharmacy environment
  • Day-to-day maintenance of our pharmacy operations both independently and in cooperation with teammates
  • Other duties will be assigned as required within the Pharmacy Assistant scope of responsibilities.
Shipping
  • Organizing and coordinating deliveries to shipping
  • Reconciling shipping medications with shipping reports and delivery totes
  • Packaging items to ship
  • Coordinating with drivers and facilities
What You Will Bring to The Team
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but not required - training will be provided for the position
  • Experience with KROLL and/or Pacmed an asset
  • Basic working knowledge of pharmacy inventory processes
  • Visual acuity, num eracy, detail oriented, manual dexterity required for appropriate handling of strip packs, prescription bottles and labels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
Physical Demands

This position requires prolonged standing and walking, repetitive hand movements, manual dexterity, visual attention to detail, and the ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry pharmacy supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. The successful candidate must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

Compensation Range: $18.50-20.00/hour. Actual pay rate will be based on the individual candidate’s credentials and experience.

Location: This is on-site role at our Peterborough location and follows a five-day workweek with participation in on-call rotation for weekends.
